Roshida Dowe, Esq.

ExodUS Summit was founded by Roshida Dowe and Stephanie Perry in 2020 in response to Black women feeling unsafe and exhausted in the United States. A growing interest arose among Black women in moving to countries where healthcare is more affordable, peace of mind is more accessible and the “American Dream” is more attainable.

ExodUS Summit hosts virtual and live events and workshops that show Black women ways to plan their ExodUS, all while fostering community. The ExodUS Summit community is now 18,000+ Black women strong.

Roshida Dowe was a burned-out lawyer for high-pressure tech companies who retired at age 39. She’s now in love with her expat life in Mexico City, her favorite city in the world.

Sheryl Thomas-Washburn

As a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in social services administration, program creation, and organizational development, my career has been dedicated to advancing equity and fostering community well-being. I have held pivotal roles in esteemed organizations such as Journey Center for Safety and Healing, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, and Abode Services, which at the time served six of the San Francisco Bay Area counties, including the cities of Oakland, San Jose, and San Francisco.

My extensive work in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion plus Belonging (JEDI-B) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is crucial in addressing the complex issues faced by survivors. My JEDI-B and DEI initiatives focus on dismantling systemic inequities and fostering environments where all survivors feel supported and empowered. This dedication ensures the provision of critical services and advocacy for broader societal changes.
